Tianjin Foreign Trade Sets Record
Tianjin Customs' import and export volumes set a record last year, rocketing 21 percent to 2.01 trillion yuan ($297.82 billion), according to local authorities.
Exports surged by 28 percent to 1.06 trillion yuan, while imports were recorded at 950 billion yuan, an increase of 14.2 percent.
Trade with Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership members and Belt and Road economies rose significantly.
About 33.4 percent of the import and export activities were attributed to countries along the “Belt and Road”, worth 670.8 billion yuan, an increase of 41.2 percent.
Imports and exports to RCEP members were valued at 642.17 billion yuan, an increase of 20.4 percent, accounting for 31.9 percent of Tianjin’s total import and export value in the same period.
The export of mechanical and electrical products and rolled steel saw robust growth, and the imports of automobiles and agricultural products increased substantially.
