Commerzbank donates 200,000 euros to brotZeit e.V.
- Commerzbank supports a non-profit association that provides needy pupils at primary and special schools with balanced breakfasts.
- In addition, the bank is calling on employees, customers and business partners to make joint donations.
- Commerzbank once again decides to donate to a social project instead of a Christmas advertising production.
As part of its 2023 Christmas campaign, Commerzbank has launched a fundraising campaign for the nationwide association brotZeit e.V. in addition to the bank donation of 200,000 euros. Since the end of November, employees have been able to donate to the association, and from 12 December, the bank will also be calling on customers and business partners to do so. In the first few days after the campaign was launched, employees raised around 20,000 euros for the bank's donations.
"This year, Commerzbank is once again mobilising its customers, business partners and employees for a good cause. Christmas is the time to make a difference together," says Commerzbank CEO Manfred Knof on the occasion of the fundraising campaign for the benefit of brotZeit e.V.
brotZeit e.V. was founded at the beginning of 2009 by the actress Uschi Glas. The current Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board is very pleased with the initiative: "We are very grateful for the generous donation from Commerzbank and its employees. Hopefully, this fundraiser will help us go a long way toward reaching our 2025 goal. Because we want to provide 600 schools nationwide with breakfast by then."
One in five children goes to school without breakfast
Hunger and food poverty have serious consequences – especially for children: difficulty concentrating, fatigue and aggression make everyday life difficult for them and cause inequality of opportunity in education and social interaction compared to children who are adequately cared for at home. brotZeit e.V. has taken care of this grievance and is now active in 21 support regions with 360 primary and special schools. There, a total of 2,000 volunteer breakfast helpers prepare a balanced breakfast for needy school children every day before classes begin. They are also cherished contact persons and thus enable them to get the school day off to a good start.
