Bank Indonesia (BI), Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), and Bank of Thailand (BOT) have agreed to strengthen and enhance cooperation on payment connectivity to support faster, cheaper, more transparent, and more inclusive cross-border payments. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Cooperation in Regional Payment Connectivity (RPC) was signed on 14 November 2022 in Bali, Indonesia, on the sidelines of the G20 Leaders’ Summit with keynote address from Indonesia’s President, His Excellency Joko Widodo.

The Bank of Thailand (BoT) will raise interest rates gradually.

​In February 2022, the Bank of Thailand (BOT) issued the Financial Landscape Consultation Paper on Repositioning Thailand’s Financial Sector for a Sustainable Digital Economy. The Consultation Paper sets the overall direction in developing the financial sector, with the aim to strike a balance between promoting innovation and managing risks in order to support the transition towards a digital and environmentally-friendly economy.

Bank of Thailand Governor ​Sethaput Suthiwartnarueput said there’s no need for the central bank to “undertake heroically large rate hikes” as the country’s economy is only expected to return to pre-pandemic levels at the end of the year.
